The term ‘true north’ is often been used to describe an organization’s strategic and philosophical vision or purpose (commonly in the form of a mission statement) supported by one or more measurable objectives, and strategies, tactics and programs for their achievement. There are a number of True North’s assessed and defined by the Program:
- The overarching Leadership True North that sets addresses the required/desired management imperatives;
- The Service Management Office (SMO) True North, which describes success, and mandate for the function when used.
The Leadership True North is the primary input to the Performance Excellence ‘Leadership Objectives’ workshop, providing the basis for the performance management framework and its constituent measures/metrics.
